Sound of the Audience
Music together and make sense of noise
Abstract
The Lab Station, a centre for experimental stage Art in Copenhagen, conducted the project “Sound Of The Audience”, where locals were invited to participate in a choir and experiment with ‘sounds that spectators emit during theatre performances’. I was invited to the project as composer. During three months we created a music theatre piece together. The collaboration between professionals and non-professionals in this particular set-up can be seen to evince how a musical practice can evolve and unfold from togetherness and auditory awareness within a group.
