The article uses a queer(ed) somaesthetic lens to analyze the embodied aesthetic responses of characters in the film “Poor Things” (2023) to the protagonist, Bella Baxter. Bella embodies deviance, as a catalyst questing for knowledge, autonomy, and a meaning of womanhood using the sensual erotic. The article advocates for the value of the sensual erotic in shaping social discourses with the arts and film as a medium for challenging hegemonic constraints and fostering nuanced conversations about bodies, power dynamics, and aesthetic experiences.
