Pre-service teachers in Denmark often exhibit difficulty writing about practice in a theoretically informed way. This chapter demonstrates how LCT and SFL are used cooperatively in a tertiary education setting as both content and pedagogic strategy to enable students’ success and development as teachers. We therefore explore how students successfully apply theoretical concepts to practice and interpret data using theory. Analyzing successful exam papers with semantic gravity (SG) helps us to see how students connect theory with practice, and having identified these passages of interest, a further analysis was done using resources from SFL, including aspects of lexico-grammar and Appraisal.
