Rethinking emergency data

Abstract

Municipalities are in the process of rethinking local emergency preparedness together with the state and local rescue services. Risks arising from, e.g. cyber and climate-related incidents impose new requirements for registering and mapping the local virtual and physical support infrastructure for both citizens and buildings.

The goal is “the relevant preparedness”. Today, mayors must consider: “What are the threats in my municipality?”, “What do the needs require of us?”, “Who needs information?” and “Where should the data be accessed?”

Data from the Cold War has passed its expiration date and is not the answer to today’s threats. Therefore, we have initiated work on a data strategy, and it must be decided where the relevant data for handling today’s everyday threats can be accessed and utilized.
