The road to improved flood mapping goes through the hydrological adaptations

The hydrological adaptation layer designates places where the flow of surface water can not be seen directly in the Danish Elevation Model as the water runs under bridges, through bicycle tunnels or in piped watercourses. This data set is crucial for achieving correct results when analyzing water flow and is thus an essential part of most climate adaptation and nature restoration projects. However, there are errors in the adaptation layer, which have major negative consequences for the derived analyzes. In 2018, the hydrological adaptation layer became part of GeoDanmark and thus also the new GeoDanmark system. It is now possible to collect corrections for the adaptation layer, which were previously only made locally in the individual projects. Based on this, we make it easy to report quality-assured customizations and motivate users' reporting by providing access to updated flood maps.
